The Makioka Sisters is famous novel by Jun'ichirō Tanizaki.
It describes the lives of the upper-middle-class Makioka family of Osaka from the autumn of 1936 to April 1941.
何度も映画化されている谷崎潤一郎の「細雪」。主人公は四姉妹、舞台は昭和11年から昭和16年までの大阪ですが、昭和元年の蒔岡四姉妹を想像して描いてみました。蒔岡家はまだ裕福で姉妹も若く、悩みも少なかったでしょうね。
